Foote, Cone & Belding Memo

This memo, issued before the Edsel was officially named, and still referred to only as the E-Car, shows the thinking of Edsel's advertising team regarding the date that Ford chose for the car's introduction. They had been working under the assumption that there would be a June 1957 introduction, when suddenly, Ford management decided that September 1957 was a better introduction date. (For Ford, not Edsel!) One can only wonder if it would have made a difference.
